KOTA MADIUN (Disperkim) – Dinas Perumahan Rakyat dan Kawasan Permukiman (Disperkim) Kota Madiun tahun ini menambah 248 titik penerangan jalan umum (PJU). Lokasinya menyasar jalan-jalan protokol yang dinilai masih kurang terang.

Kepala Bidang Prasarana Utilitas Umum, Pertamanan, PJU, dan Pemakaman Disperkim Kota Madiun, Andi Anto mengatakan, penambahan titik PJU itu melengkapi sekitar 6.500 PJU yang saat ini telah terpasang. Penambahan PJU baru itu, seluruhnya menggunakan Light Emitting Diode (LED).
“Keunggulan LED yang jelas lebih hemat energi kalau dibanding dengan lampu sistem lama (konvensional.red), lebih terang, serta waktu hidupnya lebih lama,” ujarnya, Selasa (7/3).
Andi menyebut, penggunaan lampu LED itu juga memiliki keunggulan di antaranya mudah dari sisi perawatan meski harganya cukup mahal. Diperkirakan paling cepat Maret atau April mendatang mulai action lapangan.
“Targetnya, pertengahan tahun ini tuntas,” tambahnya.
Ia menyebut saat ini hanya sekitar 2 persen PJU di Kota Madiun yang masih menggunakan lampu konvensional. Selain menambah titik PJU, pihaknya melakukan penggantian lampu konvensional ke LED secara bertahap.
